Commitment to Our Community

At Agios, we are committed to our communities – the communities where we live and the community of people in need of new and better treatment options for genetically defined diseases.

Life Science Cares

We are a proud partner of Life Science Cares, a collective effort of the life science industry to help address impact of poverty and inequality on our neighbors in the greater Boston area. They work with organizations doing work in the areas of basic human survival (hunger, homelessness, domestic abuse, crime prevention, etc.), education (STEM education, college preparation and college success, educational enrichment and inspiration, etc.) and sustainability (job creation, job training, mentoring, and economic development.) We were proud to partner with the Happy Hope Foundation and Life Science Cares to put together 70 kits for children in the hospital who needed a little extra joy over the holiday season.

“Most of these children with chronic and life-threatening illnesses had spent most of their time and resources on treatment, yielding a box of crayons as a luxury item. I knew when I heard that crayons were a luxury item, we could make a difference.”

Charitable Giving

We are committed to being a good neighbor in our communities, helping to meet the fundamental needs around us, promoting health and science, supporting patients and advancing opportunities for all regardless of socioeconomic status, race, gender or other factors that have historically limited opportunities.

We have a corporate giving program that identifies important initiatives to support and creates opportunities for employee involvement in these good causes. In 2020, Agios and our employees:

  • Raised more than $22,000 for the Greater Boston Food Bank’s COVID-19 relief efforts
  • Organized a donation of Agios’ personal protective equipment (PPE) for local hospitals
  • Provided holiday gifts for children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses through the Caring for Children Foundation
