Maintaining an Active Dialogue with the Scientific Community
Agios is focused on cancer metabolism, a fundamentally new approach to treating patients by disrupting the metabolic processes that keep cancer cells alive. We have assembled a diverse set of scientific competencies that allow us to gain new insights into the dysregulated metabolic pathways of cancer cells. We use these biological insights to pioneer research and create a portfolio of first-in-class anticancer drugs targeting cancer metabolism.
Agios is actively engaged with scientific collaborators throughout the world working at the forefront of cancer metabolism. These collaborations have been instrumental in rapidly advancing our drug discovery programs and our understanding of cancer metabolism biology as a whole. If you are interested in collaborating with Agios scientists, please contact us at partnering@agios.com.
Agios has also published significant research in the field of cancer metabolism through its own research and through its collaborations with academic groups. These publications can be viewed in the Publications & Abstracts section.
Founders and Advisors
Agios' founders are eminent scientists and authorities in cancer who have pioneered key advances in the field of cancer metabolism. Together, they provide scientific leadership and expertise in this field – the new frontier of cancer research:
- Lewis C. Cantley, Ph.D., director of the Cancer Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and professor of systems biology, Harvard Medical School
- Tak W. Mak, Ph.D., director of the Campbell Family Institute for Cancer Research and professor of medical biophysics, University of Toronto
- Craig B. Thompson, M.D., president and CEO of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Agios has assembled a world-class scientific advisory board that includes renowned experts in cancer metabolism, oncology, drug discovery and translational medicine. These advisors work in close collaboration with Agios scientists to identify new research directions and accelerate Agios' target validation and drug discovery programs.
